Elder Abuse Mandatory Reporter Immunity

Welcome to my blog!

How Extensive is the Immunity Given to Elder Abuse Mandatory Reporters?

California law gives elder abuse mandatory reporters the protection of immunity from liability. But what happens if a mandatory reporter allegedly makes a false report?  Last month, the Sixth District Court of Appeal published the case of Valero v. Spread Your Wings, LLC (2023) _ Cal.App.5th _ , 2023 WL 1858882 addressing this issue. Subscribers to my publication California Case Summaries™ only need to read my one-paragraph summary of this new case to know what they decided.

I do three things, all California law related:

I'm a mediator, arbitrator and referee at ADR Services, Inc. I handle business, employment, insurance (bad faith, coverage, UIM), probate, real property and torts (elder abuse, medical malpractice, personal injury, product liability, and wrongful death) cases. To schedule a matter, contact my case managers Haward Cho, [email protected], (213) 683-1600, or Rachael Boughan, [email protected], (619) 233-1323.

I mentor law firm associates with my Master Lawyer Mentoring services, helping them quickly master essential skills, and strategically work up and present their cases to get excellent results for the law firm and its clients. If you're interested in these services, call me at (619) 990-4312 or email me at [email protected]

Finally, I publish California Case Summaries. I prepare one-paragraph summaries, that can be read in 2 minutes and are organized by legal topic, so attorneys can quickly and easily know the new cases in their practice areas to get better results for their clients. To subscribe, click here.

Do well and be well.

Stay safe and healthy.
